Lipstick of the week (sick days and excuses edition)

Tuesday January 21st: Maybelline SuperStay 10hr stain gloss in Berry Heavenly

Wednesday January 22nd:  Nars lipstick in Heat Wave

What a bad week for lip colors, I was only 2/5 this week! Monday was MLK Day and I was in charge of a volunteer event for work so I swapped the lipstick for a backwards snapback with the words 'IT'S A DAY ON NOT A DAY OFF.'  Tuesday I needed to cleanse the snapback from my system and wore one of my all time favorite drugstore lip products from Maybelline.  So sad that this line is discontinued and equally sad that it didn't get enough hype!  I love this stain gloss because it packs a punch in color and the formula wears down well.  Compared to other 'stain gloss' offerings in the drugstore market, this one was delivered the best on the glossiness and staining properties.  If you see it in stores still give it a try, it has a really great watermelon Jolly Rancher smell too!  Wednesday I decided to pull out the brightest color in my collection to beat the January blues and to match my shirt! I am guilty of color matching to an extreme.  I don't know if you ever saw the J. Crew catalogs where the models wore this color but that's essentially the reason why I had to buy it.  Funny story but I didn't like Heat Wave at all when I first purchased it; very matte dry and more red than orange.  As time went on though I found myself reaching for it when I wanted that intimidating punch-in-the-face color to brave the day with.  It's been one of my go-to lipsticks!

Thursday and Friday I opted out of wearing lip colors because a) the damn flu season and b) GOOD FOOD!  I used to wear lipstick regardless if I were eating a big meal or not but over time I decided that it hindered my ability to 'hork' down my meal so I opt out of it if I know I will be eating exceptionally well that day.

Thursday January 23rd:  My dear friend A came over and made me a home-cooked Arab dinner!  Lucky lucky lucky!  Layered chicken, eggplant and vegetables with a delicious spiced butter garlic biryani rice and homemade eggplant dip!  Also I can't believe how I never added cilantro to my salads before, it's a game changer folks.

Friday January 24th:  Build your own burgers at Lunchbox Laboratory!  Probably the worst thing I could be eating with a sore throat, congested nose, and stuffy ears but TGIF!

STAY HEALTHY EVERYONE!  I picked up this sickness in less than 24 hours and I can't even pinpoint the culprit because it is everyone and everywhere all at the same time.  This weekend will be for healing!  Find me on Instagram!
